Perfect Scores: Arcola and Cedar Canyon Elementary Hit 100% IREAD Pass Rate in Allen County

The remarkable achievement at two Northwest Allen County schools highlights a year of significant reading score improvements across all local public districts.

A wave of celebration is sweeping through two local schools after an incredible academic achievement.

Arcola Elementary and Cedar Canyon Elementary have reached a monumental milestone.

Every single third-grade student at both schools passed the state’s critical reading assessment.

Achieving a 100% IREAD pass rate is a testament to the relentless dedication of students, teachers, and staff.

The results came as the Indiana Department of Education released its 2025 IREAD scores, which measure foundational reading skills for third graders.

This year’s data paints a bright picture for education in our community.

The success at Arcola and Cedar Canyon was part of a larger, district-wide victory for Northwest Allen County Schools.

NACS saw its overall passage rate jump to an impressive 94%, a significant increase from the previous year.

Superintendent Wayne Barker expressed immense pride in the results, emphasizing that the numbers represent individual children whose futures are now brighter.

For educators, he noted, there is no better feeling than knowing their hard work helped a specific student master the ability to read and succeed.

This success wasn't isolated to just one district.

In fact, all four public school districts across Allen County posted improved scores this year.

Southwest Allen County Schools boosted its passage rate to 92.6%.

Fort Wayne Community Schools marked its fifth consecutive year of growth with a notable 6.1% leap, reaching an 82.5% pass rate.

Meanwhile, East Allen County Schools also saw a healthy rise, climbing to an 83.7% passage rate.

These gains underscore a county-wide focus on early literacy that is clearly paying off for our youngest learners.
