Fort Wayne's Friday Night Frenzy: 27 High School Football Showdowns to Light Up Week 3

Key Players and Rivalries to Watch as Fort Wayne's Gridiron Heats Up

Hey folks, it's that time of year again, the air's getting crisp, the bands are tuning up, and the lights are buzzing over those grass fields we all know and love. This is your comprehensive look at tonight's slate of high school football action across the Fort Wayne area on September 5, 2025. We've got a whopping 27 games kicking off under the Friday night sky, from the big-time rivalries in the SAC to those gritty small-school showdowns that remind us why we pack the stands every week. These kids have been grinding all summer, and now it's showtime! Who's got the heart to make the big play when the game's on the line?

Let's break it down game by game, highlighting what to watch for, some standout players who've been turning heads in the early going, and where you can catch live scores and updates. Remember, for real-time action, head to MaxPreps.com or tune into WANE 15 for highlights; they've got you covered like a shutdown corner.

1 Carroll (2-0) vs. Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran (0-2) – 7:00 PM The top-ranked Chargers are rolling after a tough win over Center Grove last week, and they're looking to keep the momentum against a Concordia squad hungry for their first win. Watch for Carroll's explosive passing attack. Keep an eye on quarterback Gabe Frisinger, who's thrown for over 500 yards already this season, connecting with wideout Harrison Scheele for big gains. On defense, Eli Neuhouser has been a tackle machine with 25 stops so far. Concordia needs to control the clock with their ground game; junior running back Max Miller could be the key if they avoid turnovers. This one's at Concordia, so expect a charged atmosphere. Live scores: MaxPreps.

2 Fort Wayne Snider (1-1) vs. #8 Fort Wayne Bishop Luers (1-1) – 7:00 PM Oh man, this SAC clash has all the makings of a classic Snider's power vs. Luers' speed. The Panthers bounced back last week behind running back Jordan Davis (150+ rushing yards in Week 2) and freshman sensation Braylon Burton, who's already notched three TDs. Tight end Owen Dodson, a Grand Valley State commit, is a mismatch nightmare. Luers counters with a stingy defense led by linebacker Rolijah Hardy, who's been flying around making plays. Offensively, watch quarterback James Early Jr. if he's healthy – he's got the arm to stretch the field. At Snider's Spuller Stadium, this could go down to the wire. Track it live on WANE 15 or MaxPreps.

3 Leo (2-0) vs. #21 Norwell (1-1) – 7:00 PM The Lions are undefeated and looking fierce after edging Bishop Luers in Week 1. Titus Stoller and Sam Snaufer have been beasts on the line, opening holes for running back Isaiah Coolman (200+ all-purpose yards so far). Norwell's young guns are stepping up!  QB Cayden Cassel has shown poise, and tight end Cooper Bunn could exploit mismatches. Linebacker Cohen Garrett is a name to know on D with his tackling prowess. This NE8 opener at Leo could set the tone for the conference race. Check live updates on MaxPreps.

25 Churubusco (1-1) vs. #12 Garrett (2-0) – 7:00 PM Small-school fireworks here!  'Busco's balanced attack meets Garrett's unbeaten streak. Eagles' Bryce Lawrence has been a dual-threat QB, while Weston Ott anchors the defense. Garrett's Railroaders are riding high; watch for their front seven to pressure, led by edge rusher who's been disruptive early. At Garrett, expect a physical, old-school battle. Live scores via MaxPreps.

5 Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger (1-1) vs. #15 Fort Wayne Wayne (0-2) – 7:00 PM The Saints are coming off a gritty win and boast a veteran line.  Keep tabs on offensive tackle Carter Smith for protection duties. Wayne's Generals are scrappy despite the record; running back Harold Mack and linebacker Jacob Sharin could spark an upset. This SAC tilt at Shields Field has neighborhood pride on the line. Follow along on WANE 15 or MaxPreps.
